Is 50 litres the right size for you?

As a general guide, a tank of this size suits a small family sharing one bathroom, where showers are taken one after another rather than all at once. A bigger tank stores more hot water between heating cycles, while a smaller one empties sooner if showers run long. If two bathrooms need hot water at the same moment, any single tank is shared between them.

Using the Cherry CEH-50D with solar

The Cherry CEH-50D is solar compatible, which suits homes that run daytime loads from panels. As a general rule, heat the tank while the sun is strong so the stored water lasts into the evening, and confirm that your inverter can carry the geyser’s full rated load alongside the rest of the house.

Power, load-shedding and UPS

An electric geyser heats only while it has power, so during load-shedding the element stops and the water already in the tank slowly cools. A 2000W load is heavy for most home UPS units, so check your UPS or solar inverter rating before connecting it, and have an electrician fit a properly earthed socket and wiring suited to the load.
